Good morning Mary!
Just wanted to drop you a quick not to let you know that Maddie
is doing great! She has really slipped right into place in our
family. The kids just adore her and she has really attached
herself to them! Thank you for doing such a great job with the
potty training and cage breaking. She hasn't missed a beat on
either areas. She's exactly what we were wanting for our new
family member!!
Thank you very much!

Lindy
is getting adjusted to her new home and her new brother. She
did great on the ride home and taking her medicine tonight. She
is still shy around Brutus, but will hopefully start playing
soon.
Thanks,
Brendan & Erin
Hi Mary,
I thought you would want an update on how little Darlene, whose name
now is Sophie, is doing. She has settled in very well. Yesterday we took
her to the Vet. She has two types of mange, demodectic and sarcoptic and
ear mites. You might want to have the Mom and other puppies checked. All
treatable conditions and she should be doing great by the end of the
month. We also have her schedule to be spayed next month. We are very
happy with our new family member. Attached is Sophie in her new bed.
Thanks for saving our girl, we just love her!

Hey Scott! Brian and I feel sooo lucky to have found the perfect dog.
He is so fun and loving, and has such a unique personality! I think Duke
is enjoying himself so far, too. We are trying to make him very
comfortable in his new home. I tried to explain to him how his friend
Scott will hopefully be coming to see him on Derby!! He
is warming up to us quick and is giving us lots of kisses. We went for
our first walk today at the park- I told him walks will be much longer
when it isn't so cold . . .
Thank you again for having such a kind heart, Again, if anything
happens, we will be in touch. But, Scott, I think you have managed to
help find us a friend and family member for life. Thank you, and thank
Mary again too, for us! -Amy and Brian

Darla and Family,
So glad to hear that he is doing so well and that you all are enjoying
him so much!! He is such a wonderful dog I really enjoyed having him
here. Thanks care and thanks for keeping in touch.
Have a Merry Christmas & a wonderful New Year,
Mary

Hi Mary,
I adopted Apollo on December 10th of last year, and I have to say that I
can't remember life before him. He is an amazing dog and a wonderful
addition to the family.
He is almost 16 months old now, and weighs 65 pounds. He loves to play
with his older brother Zane out in the back yard and will do anything
for a treat he'll even give you a high five!
He just recently passed his intermediate training class at Petsmart and
is looking forward to taking the advanced class next month. I'm hoping
that in a couple of months he will be ready to take the Good Citizens
Test and we can volunteer at the hospital.
For this past Christmas, my mom surprised me with a 16x20' framed
picture of Apollo that she had taken at Sears. I've attached a few
pictures from his photo shoot.
Apollo is just amazing. He is so special and funny that I could go on
about him forever. Thank you for the work that you do and happiness you
bring to families like mine. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Charlotte Bruewer
Jacqueline:
Well,
your little Audrey, who became my little Indiana girl....better known to
us as INDY, is now 8 days past her 4 month birthday. We are so blessed
to have her. AT her vet visit last week she got an excellent bill of
health and weighed in at 34.5 pounds with a height of 19 inches to the
top of her shoulders and 22 inches from her neck to the base of her
tail.
The Sunday we picked her up we stopped in Logansport for a while so my
Brother and his family could see her and then we drove to just the other
side of Cleveland to spend the night. She rode on my lap the whole way.
Not one accident. She knew enough to wait until we stopped at the rest
stops. The next day, she did the same thing until we got home.
She has been taking puppy classes with a miniature dashound (pardon my
spelling), a golden and a black lab who are all her age and a Boston
terrier who is two months older. She refuses to be submissive to any of
them. She has learned, however, to loose leash walk, shit stay and down
stay. Some times she will leave things when told. She comes quickly when
I whistle for her...and thank heavens no one is in the way. They would
get knocked down!
We had her trained to ring bells hanging on the door when she wanted to
go out, but we started taking her out the back door so now she doesn't
want to ring them since they are on the front door. We will work on that
once the Christmas decorations are down. (She really isn't too thrilled
with the 6 foot blown up snowman in the front yard. I think the fan
blowing air into it bothers her.)
We are trying to train her to roll over. The girl who is our teacher in
"puppy class" says it will take a lot of work with "Indy" because she is
so non-submissive. I guess we really have our work cut out for us. She
may never do it, and that is okay. As long as I can make sure that she
will be proper and safe around children and other dogs I am okay.
Our SPCA in this area has a lot of training classes so I will make sure
that I keep taking her to classes. Kind of like taking your child to
classes for "strong willed children"..... or perhaps teaching the
parents how to deal with strong willed children. I want to make sure she
is safe and everyone who is around her is safe.....but I don't want her
to be locked in our backyard for life....which she isn't. We walk
outside all of the time. When we are with her she is wonderful, and I am
sure it will stay that way. I think she just goes nuts because her class
is at Petsmart where all of those good dog smells are and all of those
good dogs are always walking around. I have to keep reminding myself
that she is only 4 months old.....even though she loons like a full
grown dog.
I have enclosed some pictures so you can see how much she has grown.
Don't you think she looks like Coco? I do. Her fist night in the snow
was amazing. She went outside and just looked up at the sky with
amazement....then took off like a bullet. She loves to run figure 8's in
the back yard and has discovered that when she does them in the snow she
can slide......BOY does she love that better than figure 8's on dry
earth!
Thanks for taking care of such a wonderful puppy and then for trusting
me enough to let me take her back to New York with me.

Hi Mary,
My
husband and I adopted Peyton, a lab and mastiff mix, at the end of
August. I just wanted to email you a couple of pics and let you know
he's doing well. We did change his name to DaVinchie Deuce, but we call
him DaVinchie. He gets along great with other dog, Lady, as you will see
in the picture. He loves the snow, day trips, and has adjusted well to
his new environment. He was last weighed in October and he was about 68
lbs.
Happy Holidays,
B P
Hello there ladies...especially Mary,
I am so sorry I have not written. But I do have an update photo
of Miss Phoebe. She is just wonderful. All her fur is fully grown out
and no sign of her ever having a skin condition. She is a happy girl and
gets lots of serious walking now that we moved into an old house with
over an acre lot. We use a long leash and she runs like the wind. Here
is a photo of her taking a good break inside our screened in porch. The
only place outside she does not get a leash. There she thinks she's hot
stuff barking at the chipmunks and squirrels.

Mary,
It
has been two years now since we adopted our dog Enzo (was Malcome) from
Pals for Paws. Enzo is in great shape, about eighty pounds (finally done
growing!) and still full of energy, sometimes a little too much energy.
We recently sent Enzo’s picture into CNN.com, they had a spoiled pets
feature. His picture was chosen.
Click here to view his picture.
We are still contemplating getting Enzo a sister
and we check your website quite often.

I just wanted to send a quick e-mail to you
on a success story for you all to be proud of. About a year ago I
adopted a 4/5 yr old Beagle named
Megan. She was kept in a rabbit cage and was unable to stand up until
yourescued her. Because of the abusive home she lived in her legs did
not
grow properly and was unable to run and unable to walk very fast. Well I
first of all want to thank you for such a great dog. And I want to let
you know she is now running, barking and wrestling around with her
twobrothers. She has been more of a blessing to us than we have been to
her. She loves to go to the park and take walks and rides in the jeep.
When I figure out how to do it I will send you some pictures. Thanks
again and keep up your good work it really does help animals in need!

The story of Ernie is one of sadness, love,
and utter elation with a little positive deception thrown in for effect.
Allison's childhood dog, a Cairn Terrier named Toto, had been the
companion for her mom, Virginia, ever since Allison left home for
college six years ago. When Toto passed in the first week of July after
being sick for some time, Virginia began looking for another companion
to be a presence in the home. Toto had never been the kind of dog to
cuddle or seek attention beyond the basic needs of a dog, so when
Virginia began searching for a new puppy she sought something that would
sit on her lap or welcome a good belly scratch.
In comes Ernie. Virginia's neighbor, Jocelyn, found him on Petfinder.com
and immediately showed him to Virginia and Allison. Both mother and
daughter fell in love with the dog and put in applications for adoption.
Allison's letter invoked something in Ernie's foster parents and
warranted a phone call. She explained how Virginia had lost Toto and
needed a cuddly companion. She was a teacher staring retirement in the
face--and a lot more time at home, and the description of Ernie as a
puppy (9 weeks) who snuggled in wherever he could fit the bill
perfectly. The most intriguing part of Allison's letter was the desire
to give Ernie to Virginia as a 55th birthday gift...as a surprise...in 2
days.
With 25+ applications for adoption stacked in front of Ernie's foster
parents, it was going to be a long couple days of review, but Ernie's
foster mom had heard enough. Touched by the story and the people
involved, Ernie had found a home, just in time for the birthday party.
Allison brought Ernie home on Friday night, and by Saturday afternoon
was on her way to her mom's for the surprise. By this time, Virginia had
been told by Allison and Ernie's foster mom that Ernie had been adopted
already by a loving family, but not to lose heart, for she was going to
find her a loving puppy very soon. Virginia was heartbroken by the news
and told everyone she knew that she would not be adopting the sweet
little black and white Dachsund/Bichon Frise mix.
As the gifts were set to be given, Jocelyn's daughter waited outside the
door, holding Ernie in her arms. The first gift was a picture frame with
a photo of Ernie, dressed in a Happy Birthday bow. A confused look and
confused exclamations of "Ernie, why would you give me picture of
Ernie?" were heard. Just as she looked up from the photo Ernie came
around the corner and was in her arms in no time; but Virginia was
already a mess. Never before had anyone in the room (including her
mother) seen Virginia cry so hard or be so emotional. All the sadness of
"losing" Ernie was gone and in its place was utter elation and love to
last for years and years.
This is the story of Ernie.

Hi L.
Faith did awesome. She is so sweet, I can't believe all
those people didn't keep her. But then again I am a firm believer that
everything happens for a reason whether you like it or not. When I put
my son to bed she came upstairs on her own and crawled into bed with
him. We left her with him because he was so excited that she wanted to
sleep with him. She stayed with him until he fell asleep and came
downstairs. I then let her hang out a little more and then put her in
her kennel. She let me know every time she had to go out so no accidents
so far. As I am typing this, she and Emmy are curled up together
sleeping on the bed. She and Emmy are so good for each other. They get
along so well. Calvyn and I are working with her on her tricks. She is
actually learning fast for her age. I am so glad we have her. Thanks for
bringing her to us. I'll keep you posted.
Just wanted to drop a note to Jackie and let
her know that Hydee is doing well. She has adjusted and is already a
part of the family. I have 13 year old twin daughters that Hydee must
check on before she can go to bed with us (which I might add, she sleeps
right between us). Hydee has not had any accidents in the house since
Saturday when we brought her home and loves her new playmates (cats,
whisper and mica) They aren't too sure of Hydee yet. We are so happy
that we decided not to wait and to adopt Hydee right away, she is
wonderful and we love her, would not give her up for the world.
Thanks

We are in love with our Pepper! She is
adorable. We got home at 12:30 and she went right into playing ball.
Bryce came home from school at 2:45 and they played together until
Brandon came home at 4:15. We had 5 boys here playing ball with her and
she loved every minute of it! We have all had her jump in our laps and
drop tennis balls at our feet.
She has gone potty for us 3 times outside, she ate her
dinner, and she is taking in plenty of water after all her playing. I
think she is adjusting quite well.
Thank you for picking us to be Pepper's forever family!
The Lee's

I couldn't pick just one picture. The both of them
together are adorable.
We adopted Luna on July 8th, 2006 at 12 weeks. She became
part of our family before we even got her in the car to go home. We
couldn't have asked for a better sister for our Butch. She has been a
miracle. Butch used to have some annoying behavioral issues that stopped
when we got Luna. They spend their days playing and lounging around.
These are two happy dogs with two very happy pet parents!
Thank you so much,
B and T

We would like to share an update on
Bruce, the basenji we adopted at the showing on Saturday August 19.
He is an absolute angel!!! We had a 2.5 hour car ride home, which gave
him a chance to bond with Ruth. We noticed that he wasn't responding to
"Bruce" and tried a few names before seeing that he responded to the
two-syllable "Cooper." Once we got home, explored the house, and went
for a walk. Then Cooper got his first bath. He was so alert and fought
sleep until about 10:30 at night! He is very much like a human toddler.
When he does get to sleep, he drools and snores!
He's been doing really well at night. We crate
him in our bedroom, and he usually needs to go out once at night. He
loves riding in the car to take Geoff to and from work. He loves going
for walks near the cornfield behind our house and by the ponds in our
development, because he can flush toads, rabbits, and birds from the
tall grass. He can do "jumping jacks" with us, and we go for a family
sprint on evening walks. We're looking into joining the local dog park
and dog training club so that we can eventually get into frisbee and
flyball. He's doing well with house manners, and we're trying not to
discourage too many of his unique skills (like jumping and standing on
his hind legs) so that we can take advantage of them in more advanced
training.
Cooper seems to love children and he flirts with other drivers and
everyone at the pet store! When we take him to PetSmart, he gets the
attention of the managers, trainers, and toddlers. Everyone comes to
meet him, ask his breed, and praise him for being well-behaved! He
already has a toddler girl in our neighborhood that pets him and says, "Da!
Da!" when we walk past. We've been using the Gentle Leader Easy Walk
harness with him, which is a secure and gentle way of preventing
pulling. He responds well to it, and it helps keep his attention on us
when we walk.
Cooper loves attention. He will rest alone during the day when we're not
training or playing, but he has to be touching his people in the
evenings. That makes it even easier to keep a close eye on him!
Cooper has obviously known love and a stable home in his
past. We feel very fortunate that he was fostered, rather than remaining
in a shelter. He has good manners, and thrives on human attention. Thank
you so much for letting him be a part of our lives!
R and G
Hey Mary!
Thought
you might want to see some pictures of our now 20 pound 3 month-2 day
old baby. I think he has adjusted well! He eats (and poops) like a
horse. He has truly been an absolute delight and a wonderful addition to
our family. He, My nephews and lady - his best friend, enjoy playing
football and baseball in the back yard. Since my entire family lives in
a straight line on the farm, he goes from house to house visiting and
getting treat after treat. Sometimes, he’ll sit so proudly at our garage
door and watch the cars go by looking at them like he is the king. We
have made a big long walking path around the field between the corn and
the fence line. We’ll all ride our bikes around and he loves to chase
after us. He also likes to ride on the golf cart. He loves to play in
the big sand box with the kids. He’ll run back and forth as they swing,
or he’ll bark at them underneath the trampoline, or he’ll slide down the
slide just like he is “one of the boys.” He’ll bark at things like he is
50 feet tall, but he is still a scaredy cat at heart. He is so scared of
thunderstorms, motorcycles, semis, our tractor, the lawn mower, my
friend Marta’s Chocolate Lab, and my nephews’ 4-H bunny. We have tried
to take him on a few short car trips, but he is still uneasy in the car.
He always wants to hide on the floor board. My family and I have
designated days to go to the nursing home in Greentown to help with my
great-grandma. On one of our days, Tuesday, we now take Champ with us.
He loves to visit with the residents, and the nurses all love to hold
and pet him. I was a little apprehensive at first because he is so
active, but he has done VERY WELL. They always want him to come back. My
great-grandma calls him the little pig. He eats EVERYTHING. We have
bought him his science diet puppy food, but he would prefer to have a
pig ear or rawhide bone or his biscuits. He has also taken a liking to
Lady’s dog cow. He is just a big ball of energy. HE LOVES TO CHASE HIS
TAIL. Then he’ll whine if he bites it too hard. When it’s time for him
to go to bed or go to potty, I’ll play like I can’t find him. He’ll
prance around barking like “Here I am, here I am!” We just can’t believe
how cute and how wonderful he is. Deanna and I both love him dearly. He
is fitting in with our ENTIRE family very nicely. There is just
something about his little fuzzy face from the first time I saw him in
the newspaper. He is still snoring when he takes his naps or sleeps. He
must play to hard during the day! Again, thank you so very much for our
wonderful new addition!
Thanks,
C M
We wanted to let you know how much we LOVE Scout II-which we have
renamed Rowdie. We named him Rowdie because our other dog is Boomer.
Rowdie is having a blast playing with our cat and Boomer. He loves
playing with the kids too. He is a momma's boy though!! He is very
smart- at 12 wks he knows sit, lay, shake, hi-five, no kitty (when kitty
has enough playing), treat, let's go and his name!! He is truly spaniel.
We cannot put a bowl of water down for him because he will splash and
splash until it is empty and then race back and forth until he is
soaked. We got him his own swimming pool because he is spoiled. Of
course everything he does makes us laugh and love him more. We wish you
could see what a wonderful, pampered and loving life he has. We also
wish you could see our pure joy for him because we want you to know how
meaningful your work truly is! Thank you thank you for all you do. Thank
you for giving him to us over the other couple!! Rowdie thanks you
everyday too! Rowdie is now about 11-12 pounds. He was treated a second
time for his Kennel Cough because he became very congested. His health
is now excellent.
Thank you again for our little Rowdie, who is on his way to being the
most loving and devoted dog we will ever have. He is in his forever home
because of your work and God's hand in putting us in the right place at
the right time just as you walked into your booth at the Fair grounds.
We will send pictures- he gets more beautiful everyday. If we see that
you will be local for an adoption fest we will bring him to see you.

Hi
this is Brian, I adopted Reese from you last summer. We're so happy with
him, he's a great dog. He's a lover! and very rambunctious! So here are
some pictures of him, he's come along way since you had to hand feed him
to keep him alive. He weighs like 80 some pounds already! If you have
any pictures of his brothers and sisters all grown up, i'd appreciate it
if you sent a couple, just because we're so confused as to what breed
reese is. I see boxer, maybe rott, maybe pit, maybe lab... if you have
any thoughts i'd like to know, i understand your very busy, but we would
really like to see his littermates all grown up. Thank You,
B H
Hi There,
I wanted to send you an update about Goliath. Just to remind you, I
found him on your website a few months ago, he was owned by Billy
Henson, and you were helping Billy find him a home. I met him and
Goliath at the pet adoption day you had at Pet Co (I think) in Kokomo. I
instantly fell in love with him and brought him home that day. Goliath
was a bit confused because the first thing I did was take him to my vet
and he was checked over, given all his shots, and heart-worm tested, and
neutered of course. He and my 3 girls are on heart-worm preventative and
flea/tick prevention. He is up to a very healthy weight now, and is so
beautiful! I call him my baby boy. He loves to go in the car with me. He
sits right on the back seat and lays his head on my shoulder. Goliath
follows me where ever I go, yes, even to the bathroom, LOL. He watches
me cook and clean and everything I do, I have learned not to step
backwards without looking because he is always right there. Such a good
boy! Goliath gets a lot of love and attention from all of our family. We
have a new grand-baby and he is excellent with her too. One day she was
in her car seat on the couch and Goliath jumped up and sat at her feet,
just watching her sleep, it was so cute.
Sorry to go on and on but, I wanted you all to know how he is and that
you won't ever have to worry about Goliath having a Very Good home, with
people who love him very much.
Thank You So Very Much for putting him on your site!!!! Oh, by the way,
I also wanted to let you know I still keep in touch with Billy. We email
and he even came up here to Rochester to see Goliath once. He is welcome
anytime!
Thank You All So Much Again!!!

Hi Linda and Mary,
Thought
you might like another update on Mary-Jazz.( picture attached) She is
now 5 months old, a bundle of energy, and so full of love. She is
completely crate trained, house broken, and has learned many commands.
This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago—she has had yet another
growth spurt! She is going to be a big girl!
We love her very much, you were right she is precious!
Thanks again!
Pam
Mary,
Hello, my family and I adopted Tristin from you last Saturday in
Indianapolis. I wanted to let you know how he is doing, and I have
pictures, but right now my home computer has a virus, and I am emailing
you from work, so I cant send you the pix. Tristin is such a sweet boy,
we all fell in love with him. I have two dogs of my own,(a beagle mix
2yrs old (Sophie), and a collie mix 4yrs old(Bella)) When we got Tristin
home Saturday he was a little nervous. We loved on him and stayed with
him, so he wouldn't feel so scared, and he started to warm up to
everyone and all the dogs. My mom and dads dog(14 year old Lhasa Abby)
Bella, Sophie and Tristin all became best friends, and played all day
Saturday and Sunday. We put them all on leads in the back yard and had a
big cookout with all of the neighbors. Tristin played with all the kids,
and had the best time, they gave him so much attention, he didn't know
what to do with himself, his tail never stopped wagging!!!! He slept
with my mom and dad that night, and made himself right at home!
Sunday my husband and I brought him home to Louisville with us and our
dogs, and my 7 year old step-son Tate. My grandmother is the one he will
be living with, and Sunday evening I took him to meet her, and check out
his new home. He walked around and checked stuff out, and when we took
him out back to his new big fenced in yard, and had to check out
EVERYTHING. He sniffed every bush, tree, and flower, and he let the
neighbor dogs know he was moving in, and that nobody should even think
about coming near his yard. He was so funny! I have talked to my
grandmother every day, and she just LOVES him. They eat together in the
mornings, and watch Days of our Lives in the afternoon, and sleep side
by side at night. She said she doesn't know if he likes her soaps, but
that he has to watch them anyways, usually he just falls asleep on the
couch next to her! I think they are a match made in heaven, and I just
wanted to let you know that he is living the high life, and there is no
need to worry about Tristin anymore, he is a happy dog! I think he might
come back to my house this weekend to visit my girls his girlfriends).
They miss him!
Anyways, as soon as I can get some pictures to you, I will.
Thanks so much!

We can't thank you enough for bringing Billy and
Sweetie Pie (formerly Happy) into our lives. From the first moment we
met Billy he decided that we were to be his new family and he adopted
us! He wanted to play so much that we were exhausted and decided to get
him a baby sister to play with. It was love at first sight when we met
Sweetie Pie. They play great together and love to give each other
kisses! They are such a joy to have around. Thank you to your
organization and volunteers for all the good that you do in saving the
animals. Without your help our family wouldn't be this blessed. Thank
you,
Becky
Hi Everyone!
My
name is Riley. When I came into this world someone decided they didn't
want me. They didn't know what a special dog they had. But that's okay,
because Pals For Paws stepped in and took me to their place so I could
be adopted. I had my shots and they made sure I was comfortable while I
waited. They didn't know that before I came to them I had contracted a
terrible disease called "parvo".
My mommy saw my picture on
Petfinder.com and
thought I had the sweetest face. She showed daddy and he said I was
cute, too. They contacted Pals for Paws and they told them all about me.
They live in Illinois and I was living in Indiana.
Suddenly
I started to get very, very sick and I had to go to Kokomo Animal
Hospital. Dr. Vernango and his staff took care of me. Dr. Vernango told
Mommy and Daddy that I might not make it as I was very sick and couldn't
keep anything in my tummy. Mommy and Daddy said they still wanted him to
try, as they wanted me to have a fighting chance. So Dr. Vernango gave
me a blood transfusion from Dr. Stanforth's dog. We are now blood
brothers!
I started to feel better in a few days. Of course, everyone gave me
tender loving care and lots of anything I could possibly eat. Finally, I
was able to come home and I only weighed 13 lbs.. I looked like a
skeleton and I had a very bad cough. Mommy made sure I had plenty of
food at all times ( just as Dr. Vernango told her), and Daddy gave me
all the love and affection. Don't tell anyone...but he let me sleep in
bed next to him so I would be warm and cozy! It wasn't long and I
started to feel better and gain weight. I stopped coughing and after 5
weeks I gained 15 lbs.
I am a Belgian Malinois and I am suppose to have lots of energy!
Sometimes I wear Mommy and Daddy out as I steal their newspapers and run
away. I like to bite with my sharp puppy teeth and they say "ouch"! I
run around in circles under the furniture and they usually can't carch
me. Of course, I can be tempted with my "treats" and then they catch
me!! I love to ride in the car and usually fall asleep. I have been
caught eating some mulch and digging in Mommy's flowerbeds. I think this
is why Daddy calls me a "Malinut". Oh well, as you can see I have a busy
life.
Thank you Dr. Vernango, staff and Pals For Paws. I wouldn't be here
without you love and support. My Mommy kisses me and said God blessed me
and I know she is Right!
Sincerely,
Paula B.
Hello,
I am Lela. My daughter Becky and I recently adopted a pom (TORI) aka
Phoebe. She is the pom that had alergies with bald and raw patches all
over her back. Phoebe is still on the food called Nature's Variety. We
buy her the dry type and she loves it. She is turning out so beautiful.
Her fur is all grown back and no more itching. It will be a while before
it gets long, but she sure does look and seem to feel good. Her
personality is that now what a pom's should be. Not a minute to sit
still, unless she is on someone's lap. She has full run inside the house
whether we are home or not. This little girl thinks she is a big dog in
a very little package. Car rides are still fun, especially when she gets
to bark at the students on campus. I think that is the only reason she
wants to go bye bye. We are all having so much fun with her. I just wish
we could all wake up so perky in the mornings like she does. We found a
dog clothes pattern on the web, and we have made her some cute little
vests. All seasonal of course, this will keep her from getting sunburned
until her fur is fully long. I wanted to send you a photo, but I am
having problems with my camera. We did promise you updates on her and
will continue to do so. As soon as I get the camera going I will send
you a photo. Any questions, do call.

Hello,
I
wanted to send you some pictures of Morphius, formerly known as Elliot,
whom we adopted on 3/19/06. He's such a good baby. He gets along very
well with our older Lab-mix and my sister's Miniature Schnauzer. He's
half-way through puppy school, and his trainer says he's very smart. We
agree. He'll do just about anything we ask of him (as long as treats are
involved of course). He's gained 8 pounds in the past month. He's going
to be a big boy. It's so amazing to watch him grow. Thanks again! Laura
Oliver
Rebecca,
Here
are two pictures we took yesterday. She slept very well through the
night - not a peep out of her. She does bark. She barks at our goldfish!
We've had a few accidents in the house, but we're working on that.
M & C B
I
just wanted to follow up on my promise to send you the pics of the kids
in the snow this morning. I couldn't resist sending you the extra two of
Stella and Lucy from last week, so you can see she is very loved, and
indeed a member of our family.
Sandy
Linda,
Hi, just wanted to give you an update on Sparky (now Rotini), the puggle
we adopted from Judy this past weekend. She's doing GREAT and has really
settled in. We just absolutely love her!!
If your group rescues anymore puggles, PLEASE let me know. We'd love to
adopt another one because they are just great dogs. Also, please pass on
the news to Judy.
Thanks,
Jennifer
Hi Linda,
Just
wanted to give you an update on Wrigley (Daisy). Tyler loves her so
much. (Eric too). She is such a good buddy for him. They just finished
an 8 wk obedience school class, and now Tyler can walk her around
without being dragged. Tyler was the only kid trainer in the class, and
they both did a great job. He’s hoping as it warms up he can take her
out and teach her to fetch (currently she chases the ball and doesn’t
bring it back). We frequently visit your website. Someday we’ll probably
add another dog for Eric. They would love to see Wrigley in the Happy
Tails.
Thanks so much,
Jill Kennison
Greetings!!
It
has almost been a year since I was picked up in Kokomo. I have certainly
had some ups and downs here , I have chewed a few shoes, dug a few
holes, ate some carpet and some of the kitchen floor, but all in all, I
have turned out to be one spoiled and well loved little (I use that term
loosely at 42 pounds) puppy. I hate to brag on myself but I am quite
beautiful with my black shiny coat and I have a great disposition around
little kids. They can pretty much get away with anything and I just give
them a big kiss and go on. I am not well trained on taking nice walks
yet. I love to go, but mostly I pull and Stacy and Dorline follow. That
is their task this summer, to teach me to walk better. We have gone on a
few dog walks for different charities, and I love the other dogs. (I get
an A+ @ playing well with others). Our dog park here in Lafayette is due
to open this summer and we are really excited about it. I love going to
pet smart and shopping for treats and new toys. Dorline is going to try
and attach a couple of pictures of me so you can see how beautiful I am.
Sorry we have not kept up very well since I came here to live, but since
we are getting close to my one year anniversary home coming, I thought
an update would be nice. We missed the Paws for Pals get together you
had last fall, we wanted to come and just didn't make it. Hopefully if
you have another one this year, we can come and visit. Thanks for being
there for all the other little homeless ones who need good homes. I hope
they all got as lucky as I did.
Thanks again for taking such good care of me until Dorline and Stacy
took me home
Big kisses
M H
Hi!
I thought I'd send this picture to you. We adopted Sweet Pea Labor Day
of 2004. She is now Lucy but we call her Baby and she thinks that is her
name. We have loved her so much we decided to adopt another rat terrier
- also through Petfinder.com. Here is a picture of her (in the back) and
her new brother. They are so much fun. Thanks again for all your work
and dedication to saving these homeless pets.
Nancy
Linda,
This
is our little cutie, Annie.
Thanks for your organization.

Hi Linda,
We love Tanner, now called Boo after the gentle
character in "To Kill a Mockingbird", Boo Radley. Since we lost our
Collie, Murphy, a few years ago,we've missed having a gentle dog that is friendly
with everyone. Boo is a real sweetheart like Murphy. Thanks again for
what you do! It's a wonderful mission.
Jan W.
We adopted Sunny from your place in the Markland
Mall this past Saturday. I wanted to let you know, we love her! She is
so peaceful and so loveable. We found out that she loves to ride in the
truck! She is so sweet, I am so glad we got her. Thanks again!
Angie
Linda,
Mikey's really been doing great. His neutering
went well and he's adjusted nicely to our home. We had to rename him
though because the poor thing was confusing "Micki" for "Mikey" so my
husband renamed him "Coach Dungy" after the Indianapolis Colt's coach
Tony Dungy.
I'll send a picture as soon as I get one scanned, I
took quite a few after he got groomed last week, he had put the cutest
bandana on him. The groomer said that he actually loved getting his
coat blown out, and he even behaved well during his bath.
He is very gentle with our little boy and the two
of them have had hours of fun together! They love to play fetch and
tug-a-war and once in a while Dungy sneaks into Johnathan's bed in the
morning to snuggle.
We've found that he's very gentle with elderly
people and those in wheel chairs! I babysit my niece that has cerebral
palsy once in a while, and when she's here he lays at the foot of her
chair and licks her feet while she giggles. He doesn't leave her side
until she goes home, it's really sweet to see!
Thank you so much for the work you do! He's made
an excellent addition to our family.
Thanks again,
Micki
Hi Judy,
I thought you might enjoy hearing how Trixie &
Trudy are doing. I am so in love with both of them that I think about
them all day and miss them when I'm away from them! They have wormed
their way into my heart and home as if they were always here!
Both are doing very well. They've made themselves at home! Right now
they are both curled up in my lap, sound asleep, while I use my laptop.
They love to be with me and near me ... and of course, I don't mind one
bit!
Trudy seems to be a bit more independent than Trixie. Trixie wants to
be near me if I'm home - and can't seem to get close enough. She also
prefers that I'm touching her if she is near me - of course, rubbing her
is her preference! Trudy will get up on my chest and wave her paw at
me until I start rubbing her tummy .. she really likes that. Of course,
Trixie is extremely jealous if it appears Trudy is getting more
attention than she is!
You kept telling me they would make me laugh. I couldn't imagine how 2
dogs could make me laugh - but you were right! They make me laugh all
the time! The looks they give me ... the actions they show ... and they
way they try to get their way - all things make me laugh.
They have brought much joy to our home and I'm so
thankful they have become part of our family. I know before long even
Harriett [the cat] will be thankful too!
Thank you so much for giving them up and letting me have them. I look
forward to every day and what they'll do next. OH - by the way - we did
learn they like the trash and will drag stuff out if we don't watch
them. (I actually think it's mostly Trudy.) But other than that
orneriness, they have acted like true ladies in the house!
I'll keep you posted ..... but know they are in a very good home with a
lot of love!
Brenda
Jean,
Just
thought I would drop you a note a let you know things are going very
well with Valentine. She has settled into the house just wonderfully. It
fact, it has been much smoother than we could have hoped. She and
Jasmine are not best friends yet, but Valentine has been very good with
Jasmine. Lots of play bowing and general playfulness. I think Jasmine is
still trying to figure her out, but they seem like they will fast become
a good pair. Valentine is hysterical to watch play! She and the cats
seem to have reached an understanding after her first day and a few
ruffled feathers. Valentine learned "No Cat" very quickly. For the most
part, she has been spending her time on the couch with us with her head
in our laps. She is a delightful dog. I've attached a few pictures.
Thanks again!
Elizabeth
Hello!
I just wanted to drop a short note and let everyone at PFP know how well
Maci is doing since her adoption late last year. Maci has adapted to
her new surroundings quite well. Maci might just be the most laid back
dog I have ever come in contact with. Maci spends her days running the
yard and
also relaxing in her K9 Kondo. Maci does sleep inside at night and she
has picked a spot right in front of a large picture window so she can
always see what is going on out in her yard. Maci might be the only dog
I know who prefers to bury her rawhide instead of chewing on it. Maci
loves to go for a ride in the car. I learned very quickly to keep the
windows rolled up because one time when the car came to a stop, Maci
jumped out of the car and
went exploring on her own. I was able to get Maci back rather quickly
and she acted as if nothing ever happened. I am so glad to have Maci as
a friend/pet and I found your adoption process to be a very pleasant
experience. Please find a link for the K9 Kondo below. I find this
product to be the best dog house on the market today. I use shredded
cedar as the bedding of choice and Maci seems to love to lay in it all
day long. I have also enclosed some pictures of Maci.
Sincerely,
J. L. Fox
Hi Linda!
Thanks
so much for the copy of the article that Zoey was in! I thought I'd send
an update on her too!
Zoey just had her final puppy shots on Friday and we're going to puppy
classes soon! She's getting to be a "big" girl, a whole 9lbs. 12oz.!
She is so smart! She already knows her name, sit, come and lay. We have
to work on her habit of jumping up when she'd wants to greet someone
though. She's housebroken and hasn't had any accidents. She even goes
and waits by the front door when she needs to go out! We just love her
so much! Thanks for allowing us to bring her into our lives and for all
you do for animals just like Zoey!
I'm also attaching a few photos, one from when we first brought her home
at the end of January and the two with her purple vest are from a couple
weeks ago.
Thanks again!

Linda & Jacqueline--
Fabio
is doing great! Attached is a picture of his first day in his new
home! We couldn't have asked for a better puppy!
Thanks,
Justin & Carrie
The
Norris family is very happy with their new dog, Max!
Sasha
is doing great. She fits in great with our other two rottweilers.
Our vet said Sasha seems very healthy and is a perfect weight: 79.8lbs.
Thanks, Tracy
Thank
you for the chance to adopt Sadie. After a bath, we learned now she will
be going to a groomer or some place that has a BIGGER tub to put her in.
She fit right in. Our other pets have accepted her. She is the BIG dog I
have always wanted. I guess being at the right place at the right time
paid off.
Thank you to the staff, especially the ladies for all the help on
getting Sadie home with us.
Here is a picture of Sadie fitting in. Thanks again.

Hi Mary,
Shep
is doing great.
Dave
Linda,
Timber
and Kia are now Chewy and Zellie, and each has their own very different
personality - they are a joy. We renamed Timber, Chewbacca (Chewy)
because he looks like a wookie and lumbers about like a slow moving
giant. Kia is now Gazelle (Zellie) because when she runs around the
sofa, the wall to wall carpeting seems to push to the sides (she is
FAST!). When they are awake, they chew on each other like play toys, and
when they sleep, they cuddle up like hamsters.
They are family, and 90% housebroken! Very smart puppies, they are.
We will periodically send you pictures and let you know how they are
doing.
Thanks again for doing what you do.
Cheers,
Jill and Gary S.
Mary,
We promised to stay in touch and thought you would like to see, for
yourself, how well Mary is adjusting. This picture was taken yesterday
after some pretty serious romping and playing. The big bone was
‘borrowed’ from her new cousin Emma, a boxer-lab. Mary is a real
sweetheart and we are so happy to have her in our lives. We nick named
her Mary Jazz, doesn’t she look super in her “jazzy collar”?
In just 8 days Mary is nearly crate trained no accidents in 3 days.
House training is going very well too! Her first trip to the vet was
very successful, she is 20.4 pounds and her birthday will be celebrated
on November 1st each year.
Thank you for your organization, you bring happiness and joy to animals
and people what a wonderful thing!
Pam & Randy
Bentley
is an adorable Weimaraner/Lab puppy and we are so lucky to have found
her. She is loving, smart, and can already outrun us! Thank you Pals
for Paws for fostering and saving so many wonderful dogs. Todd and
Sarah

Thank you so much for Chrissy. We have successfully changed her name
to Lucy. She is 99% potty-trained, and she knows the words "down",
"potty", her name, and "NO". As you can tell by the picture, Charlie is
fine with her. Thank you again!
A. H.
I
just wanted to give you an update on one of your
hurricane dogs that we adopted. We adopted the black lab mix female and
named her Goofy. She's fitting right into the family. She's a great
playmate with our 2-year old daughter Emily and she's very protective of
our new baby boy, Gavin, who joined our family in November. Goofy loves
to play with our other dog, Jeannie. She really wants to play with our
two cats, but they still aren't thrilled with the idea of having Goofy
chase them around. I've attached a couple of pictures of Goofy so you
can see how she's growing. She's a wonderful dog and thanks to wonderful
groups like yours, she was given a chance to grow up in a loving home.
Keep up the good work!
The B Family
Mary,
Isn't
he handsome? We just wanted to send you an update on one of your boxer
babies from this summer. We named him Bosso. He’s about doubled in size
since this fall photo. He’s the best dog ever Very well behaved, so
loving, so wonderful. We couldn't imagine a life without him! He started
agility training, he’s so smart. He’s the most popular dog on the block.
He snuggles, very affectionate, and spoiled. Thank you for brining him
into our lives. We hope your holidays were beautiful! Ours was, Thanks!
Sincerely,
Bosso, Marnie & Matt
We adopted little MICAH last weekend. He is a Miniature Pinscher,
Jack Russell Terrier mix that our son has renamed PEPE CORTEZ and is
very happy! He has bonded with everyone in the family, but seems to be
extra close to my our son Nick. They are inseparable! Nick is 11 and has
wanted his own dog for a long time so this is very special for him.
R.J.

The Odom Family is very pleased with their new addition, Teddy.

Linda,
Marla has been with us for almost 3 months now and it's hard to think
of life without her. She is about 35 pounds now and a total sweetheart.
We're still hoping she's going to be on the smaller side for a lab.
She's kennel trained now, almost potty trained (about 95%), knows sit,
come, kennel, walk (substitute for heel as we want her to know the
difference when we start her 4-H training) , drop it, go lay down, wait
and stay commands. She slept through the night from the first night and
doesn't even cry when we put her in the crate for the night now. She is
the most talkative dog we've had- she doesn't bark much but is very
expressive and let's us know just what she wants in Marla speak.
She loves running errands with me in the van (esp to PetSmart),
playing soccer w/ her soccer ball, retrieving just about anything and
playing chase w/ everyone as well as walks. She loves our cat, Lickity
Split, but I'm not sure the feeling is mutual as she doesn't respect the
cat very much. I have a very large dry creek bed area which is my
biggest hosta garden and she loves to rip and tear through there (I'll
have to figure out something in the spring) so much that we now call it
"where the wild things are" because she thinks she's a wild thing when
she's back there.
She loves everyone and all other dogs which is a big plus in our
book.
Thank you for doing what you do!
E. G.
Mary,
Gracie
and Trevor, both of whom we adopted from Pals for Paws in 2004, are
really AWESOME dogs! Gracie is the leader of the two, and Trevor
follows
her wherever she goes. They are both well-behaved and affectionate.
Gracie loves toys, but she tears them to pieces, while Trevor is really
gentle and just likes to carry his toys around in his mouth! We love
them both so much! They make our family 'complete'!
The "F" Family
Linda and Mary,
I
have attached a picture of Rocco (63#s) and his new big brother
Oscar(140#s). All of them are getting along just great. Rocca has
been such a good boy, it is like he has always been here. Don and I
could not be happier with him. I will send more pictures soon. Thank you
both for
everything.
Kind regards,
H. and D.

The dog we adopted from Mary in Kokomo is doing fine. It took us
a while to get the records sent from the vet, but that was accomplished.
She will see our vet this upcoming week. She has quickly learned the
invisible fence. She gets lots of exercise with daily walks and
sometimes runs with my wife.
J.R.
This
is the dog we adopted originally as "Charlie Brown" from his foster home
in Warsaw Indiana. We have named him "Fuzzy", and he is a great pet.
He definitely is what we wanted - our daughter Rachel wanted a horse, my
husband and I wanted a dog - so Fuzzy is our compromise!
When he was younger, he gained 5 pounds each week (I also include a
picture when we first picked him up). He stopped growing at just under a
year, and is now just filling out (He's about 135 pounds). He is great
with kids, and extremely mellow, but still loves a good game of tug of
war with the kids.
They hold one end of the pull toy, and he pulls them across the wood
floors! His favorite chew toys are logs for the fireplace, and when not
available, raw hide bones. His only really annoying habit is pulling
hats off of our heads!
He loves playing with his dog friends, playing fetch, going for car
rides, and going for walks at a local dog park.

Hello,
Missy is just the perfect companion for me. She loves her new home &
family & has settled in so well for all she has been through (if only
she could tell us her story!!). My 82 yr. old mother is knitting her a
blanket already! She loves the grandchildren too & they want to be here
with her
constantly.
Thanks for all you do for these wonderful animals. Missy is an answer
to prayer for me.
God Bless Your Work,
L. A.
Mary,

Thank you so much for doing what you do! I adore dogs, and couldn't
imagine not having them in my life. I know we've only had Elliott for
three days, but we are already SO in love, and he's getting along with
our other two dogs Henry and Maggie beautifully!! Again, thank you!!
I've attached some pictures of Elliott at home...
S. H.
Linda (Pals for Paws) and Beth (Brookhaven),
Well,
"Mac" has been with us for a month now and is beginning to settle into a
bit of a routine. He gets a 20 minute brisk walk every morning by myself
or my husband, a quick potty break in the afternoon, and then a half
hour or longer walk in the evening. (He loves this!). He is eating well
and sleeping on the loveseat in our bedroom. (So much for the floor!)
In the evening, he acts like a puppy by jumping and running through
the house and stealing the baby's toys! He is full of love and kisses!
As for chewing issues, we've not yet had any casualties. I have
caught him beginning to chew on something, but when told to stop he
drops the item or stops right away. Apparently he needs a bit of
reminding!
Well, this southern dog had his first taste of real snow yesterday
and seemed to really like it! I've attached a few photos for you! We'll
send more after his first Christmas!
Enjoy!
The "S" Family
Hi Linda!
Well, as you can see Nimm came home with us on Friday
afternoon! Woody was SO excited to have a buddy! There was no growling
or anything....! Thanks very much for his medical information; it will
help when he goes for his vet visit. He will get neutered and will be on
heartworm preventative year round.
Thanks very much for a great pup!
L. K.
Hi Louie and Everyone,
Today
we brought Sebastian home. He cuddled with me most of the way. We
stopped midway for a bathroom break, and my brother walked him in the
lot as I went to the gas station. He tried to follow me and when he
couldn't - he watched me the whole way.
We got home and introduced Sebastian and his big sister, Freyja,
through the fence at first. We gradually worked with them together until
they were running and playing nonstop. We came inside and they were
wonderful - they played tug-of-war and shared toys, even lied next to
each other to rest.
Sebastian is just an awesome dog. It seems like he has been here all
along - he is very comfortable. He doesn't seem to know how, or is may
be afraid of the stairs, so we are working on that.
Thank you so very much for this beautiful, gentle baby. I fell in
love with him immediately and we are bonding more by the hour.
Thank you!
Dawn
Thank you so much for doing what you do. McGuire is a loving dog with
so much potential. His first night with us went quite well. Once the
children went to bed, he came out of his shell a bit more and even had
kisses for my husband and myself.
We'll keep in touch to update you on how he's getting along.
Thanks Again
The S. Family
Hello Everyone,
I
wanted to email you an update of Ethan, a puppy we adopted on
10/24/2005. Kaitlyn, my daughter, thought his name should be changed
from Ethan to Chip. I do not know why, but she thought his name should
be Chip!
We have had him just over 2 weeks and he is nearly housebroken. We
haven't had any accidents in the
house; however, I don't trust him yet to be in the house unattended!
He seems to be very intelligent and friendly. He loves to play with our
youngest child, Tyler. They get out in the yard and chase each other.
Chip even sleeps on the floor in front of him when Tyler is taking a
nap.
I want to thank you for providing the services for
adoption and for all of the hard work, time and energy
that I am sure you invest in your cause. It has been
a real pleasure over the last couple of weeks to have
this dog in our lives.
I have included some pictures of Chip at his new home.
I will send more as he grows.

The Meaning of Rescue Now
that I'm home. bathed, settled & fed, All nicely tucked in my
warm new bed, I'd like to open my baggage lest I forget. There
is so much to carry-So much to regret.
Hmm. Yes there it is, right on the top. Let’s unpack Loneliness,
Heartache and Loss, And there by my leash hides Fear and
Shame. As I look on these things I tried so hard to leave I
still have to unpack my baggage called Pain, I loved them, the
others, the ones who left me, but I wasn't good enough-for they
didn't want me.
Will you add to my baggage? Will you help me unpack? Or will you
just look at my things-And take me right back? Do you have the
time to help me unpack? To put away my baggage, to never repack?
I pray that you do-I'm so tired you see,
But I do come with baggage-Will you still want me? |
