Marcy
Here is a photo of Marcy, which my wife surprised me with after
the loss of our other lab-Benny. We love her so much she is a
wonderful addition to our family. Marcy loves to play with our
children and she loves to ride in Daddy's jeep, she has even been
offloading with me. Thank you very much for the chance to be a forever
family to Marcy

Buddy
My
name is Buddy, and I'd like to tell you about my new family. My new
family has 2 other dogs. Mandy is a 10 year old white-husky mix, and
even though she is only 35 pounds compared to my 82, she has proven that
she is the boss. Sometimes she will play with me, but most of the time
she watches me play with Sox. Sox is a trip! She is 18 pounds of
courage. The first time I met Sox, she jumped to nip at my face. She
likes to take my favorite bone, but that's O.K. We have a lot of fun
chasing each other around. There are 2 teenage girls at my new home and
they love me! They have a lot of friends who come over to the house. I
really like all the activity. My new Dad and Mom are training me. It is
a lot of fun and they tell me I have great potential to become a search
and rescue dog. Everyday, my family tells me how happy they are that I
came to live with them!
Halo
I
have attached a few pictures of Halo (Sadie as we have renamed her). One
is of Sadie with the toy given to us by Pals for Paws when we brought
her home. A second picture shows Sadie on our daughter Sara's lap. She
had just gone through the long trip to Kokomo and was very tired as you
can see in her eyes. The third photo shows Sadie meeting our cat Dusty.
The last two photos are a "Get Well Soon" picture that
was given to Sadie after we had her for a couple of days. One of the
ladies from our church teaches a class at a local school, and when she
told the kids
about
Sadie, they went out and bought her some new toys and some treats. She
has enjoyed them to no end. Sadie as received from Brookhaven weighed 4
lbs. and was very exhausted from her recent surgery and the long trip.
She now weighs over 8 lbs. and eats like a
horse. She is a little bigger than Dusty (our cat) at this point and
likes to harass her whenever we are not watching. We hope to take Sadie
on her first camping trip next weekend if the weather permits.
Don, Linda, and Sara
Sandy is doing great. She is visiting her vet tomorrow. She already will
“sit” and “down” and is working on “come”. The kids are really enjoying
her. Anna walks her and feeds her before school and after school.
Thanks for everything-
A.S.
Mary,
It’s
been a year since we adopted our puppy from Pals for Paws and I thought
I’d send you an update. My wife and I adopted “Malcome” (we named him Enzo) when he was 6-8 weeks old.
I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done and continue to do
with animals. Enzo is a
healthy 75 pounds now (was around 6 pounds when we adopted him). He is
a very active dog and loves to go swimming and running around with other
dogs. He is a such a
happy dog and we are thinking about adopting a sister for him (not sure
yet but we do check your web site every week). Thanks again, Mary. What
you do for animals has made a big difference in our life and I’m sure
many others.
Sincerely,
A & K & Enzo
Hi
Mary!
I wanted to send you a picture of Echo...we let our daughter, Rachel,
rename her...so her official name is now Sally Rene Harrold!
She is so wonderful...the kids just love her!
Thank you so much...she is a sweet little gift for our family!!

Hi,
there!
I thought you might like to know how things are going with the newest
member of our family. We adopted Tempe 2 weeks ago from her foster home
in Kokomo. Since her name was short for “Temporary”, we had to give her
a more permanent name J and we chose Sadie. We hoped Sadie would be a
good playmate for our little black lab mix, Carly. We were told Sadie
loves to play, especially chase and boy, is that ever the truth! It is
such fun to see Sadie and Carly race around our fenced-in back yard
chasing each other and rough-housing together. Carly wasn’t sure this
new sister was such a good idea at first, but she seems to enjoy the
company now. This past weekend was Sadie’s first camping trip and she
was an excellent traveler in the truck. We went hiking and swimming and
generally proved the adage that “a tired dog is a good dog”. J
I am including 3 pictures from the camping trip that shows our 2 girls
in the truck att the start of the trip, raring to go; swimming in a lake
at the Hoosier National Forest; and conked out on our bunk in the
camper. Sadie has adapted quickly to her new life and is a loving, happy
dog with seemingly boundless energy. Thank you for rescuing her she is
a wonderful addition to our family!
Sincerely,
J & R
Hi there,
I don't know if you happen to remember me or not. My name is Jeff
Jackson, and back in February
(Valentine's Day weekend) I adopted a little bundle of
joy from your organization named "Zeppelin." Zeppelin is a black and
white cocker spaniel/long haired daschund mix.
When I purchased Zeppelin I made a promise that I
would check in from time to time and let you know how things have been
with Zeppelin. I apologize that I have not been able to keep my end of
the bargain as often as I may have liked to.
But Zeppelin has been, and continues to be, a
blessing. He is about 9 months old now, and about
20-22 lbs. He has quite the muscular build. He keeps
us on our toes, and every day breathes a little more
youth into our souls.
My fiancée cried like a small child the night I
brought him home to her, and through good times and not-so-good times he
has proven himself to be the glue that keeps this family together. He
most certainly lives the life he was intended to live.
We, since purchasing him, have bought a house in
Williamsport, Indiana, where he is able to run in his
own yard, play with the neighborhood dogs and
children, as well as be surrounded by those who love
him. We often joke and say that the house belongs to Zeppelin, and we
are just allowed to live there.
I will send pictures as soon as I can get some
scanned. But I must say I am thankful that whoever
ditched him and his siblings did so, because otherwise I never would
have been able to experience the joys I have been able to with
Zeppelin.
And I thank you as well for having shelters such as
Paws for Pals to give families such as ours the
opportunity to save an animal's life and make them a
part of our home, our lives, and our family. You are
truly angels amongst us.
Sincerely,
J.J & A.B.
I
am e-mailing you a couple of pics of Maddie like I promised- I will send
more as she grows and changes- we can't thank you enough- we love her to
pieces and in such a short time it is already hard to imagine our family
without her- it seems like she's been here always already! We adore her
and she's quickly becoming a regular little mama's girl- yesterday she
cried and cried until the kids took her outside since Mom was out mowing
and she could see me through the window but couldn't reach me.
The first pic is Brit with Maddie

I thought you'd like to see Jasper since he's a little over a year
now. He's such a cute dog! And he's very well behaved! The cats name is
Kitten. They're good buddies.

Hi Mary Helen,
Well, it's been a couple of months now since we adopted the Golden
Retriever named "Sandi". I wanted to give it some time to see how things
would go so that I would have a report to give you. I will have to send
you some pictures another time as our digital photos did not turn out
very well.
I would like to thank you for giving us this wonderful opportunity to
have her. She has been such a wonderful addition to our family. She is
doing very well here. From the day we brought her home, she has always
felt like this was where she belonged. When we arrived home with her,
you would have thought that she had lived here forever. It was an
extremely easy transition for her. We showed her the boundaries of the
yard to the outer boundaries of our field and to this day we have never
had a problem of her leaving our property. We introduced her to her new
family and she took immediately to them and they took to her as well.
She loves her new siblings ( Kia- German Shepherd, Niki- Cocker Spaniel
and Riley- very mixed breed dog! Jazmin, Chloe, Abbi and Spencer- all
cats, oh yes and we can't forget Dip- the 3 legged hamster!) as well as
her new human family.
Sandi has had great improvement on her right hind quarters. Do to the
"therapy" of playing with Kia, she no longer limps or favors this leg.
With the running and playing that she does she was able to stretch out
the muscles and tendons that had tightened up due to lack of physical
therapy that she was to have after her surgery. She has lost some of her
"extra" weight that she had when we adopted her and she still has a
little to go yet, but a little at a time is fine so that she stays
healthy. She still loves her toys. We go through a lot of them here and
that's okay. It's fun to buy her a new toy and see her light up when I
tell her I got her something. She's like a small child when she gets a
new toy, she prances around and has to show Kia and the others what she
has to play with. She stills likes to get the kids toys, but not as much
now. One of these days I am going to venture off and take her to Petco
or Pet Smart but I better take a lot of money with me because she will
be picking up toys right and left if I don't watch it! ( ha ha ha)
I'm not sure if you ever have contact with her former family, but if you
would please let them know that she is doing great, I would really
appreciate it. There isn't a day that doesn t go by that you can
literally see a smile on Sandi's face. She is so content in our home.
She has a lot of four legged friends that she loves to play with. She
loves to run in the field and let the wind blow in her face and she
knows that when she turns around she's home and she has a family that
really loves her.
We feel truly blessed to have her, she has brought so much laughter and
smiles to our home.
Thank you Mary Helen for all that you do. If it weren't for you and what
you do for Pals for Paws with these animals, we would have never met
Sandi and she in turn would not be a member of our family. With those
thoughts in mind, we would be deeply saddened and feel a huge loss
because knowing her now and feeling like we do about her, words could
not express how we would be missing out on someone as special as she is.
You are an angel to these animals, God bless you............
Sincerely,
V.H.

Mary,
Just wanted to give you an update on Zeus. His name was modified to how
it always kept getting said. He was into the vet for his next round of
shots last Sat. He is up to 15.8 pounds and is doing really well. He is
very playful, likes to run around and he loves being outside when we are
there with him.

Hello Mary,
Enclosed are pictures of Cooper, formally known as Simba. We adopted
Cooper
in October of 2004 and he is doing wonderful. Cooper is now 7 months old
and is a very sweet boy. His favorite thing to do is dig big holes in
the
grass and alongside the fence, loves to eat rocks, bark at the vacuum
cleaner and play with his next door neighbor, Buddy the Great Dane! He
also enjoys chasing his blue ball and tearing up the garden lights.
Cooper is a typical boy! He is now 50lbs and is somewhat picky when it
comes to his food. He loves to eat his crunchy food with cottage cheese;
he thinks it's the best!! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to
care for
Cooper!

Hi!
We adopted Tanner in July. He is now 8 months old, 40 lbs., and is the
joy of our lives. He is affectionate and playful. He loves being around
people and other animals. When he was 8 weeks old he developed an eyelid
infection that had us at the vet every two weeks for about 3 months. He
doesn't have any permanent damage and was a trooper through the whole
ordeal. We think of you often Mary. Thank you for fostering and taking
such great care of our boy. I will never forget the day we brought him
home and how you cried when you handed him to us. Here is a current
picture of him.
Thank you again,
S. T. and A. H
Hello! I just wanted to give you a report on
Barney! He is doing great! Had a blast at Christmas - really likes
getting presents and didn't even care that we were opening ours! He is a
WONDERFUL part of our family! Just wanted to share a Christmas picture
that I took. He wasn't thrilled to have the hat on his head, but like
always - his grumpiness didn't last long.
Thanks for everything that you do!
Kristi
Hi, Mary Helen,
Thanks
so much for the great picture of Sophie; I just love it. And Jeff and I
both just love HER to pieces!! We couldn't have asked for a better
dog--even if she does act like a whirling dervish at times! She's so
good; no destructive behavior, no house-training issues, no food or
eating problems, no resource-guarding, nothing. She's feeling very at
home now, too; she knows we love her, and she surely doesn't hold back
any of her affection! She's found her voice, too; she barks now every
once in a while, but mostly grumbly talking at the mailman and when she
hears other dogs barking (another sign of her comfort in her new
surroundings).
She's really loving the bones and raw food diet, too. She had the
meaty part of a raw turkey wing last night--her first--and I wondered
how it would go. She liked to take her kibble out of the bowl, walk to
the carpet under the table and crunch it up. The raw meat patties stayed
right in the bowl--she snarfed it down without ever looking up--and I
was glad about that.
However, I feared she might want to carry the (bloody and juicy)
treasure off, and sure enough, I bet I picked it up and put it in her
bowl (or at least on the linoleum floor) 20 times! She didn't utter a
sound or make a move in protest when I handled this delectable feast and
put it somewhere else. It took her 45 minutes, but she crunched down
everything but the hardest outer bone shards. I thought to myself, "This
is how dogs are meant to eat, and I'm glad to be able to help her be
that kind of a dog!"
She was so happy afterward; her eyes were so relaxed and she snoozed
a good bit of the evening (like people do after a wonderful feast!)
Just wanted you to know that we couldn't be happier with our little
snoochie, and to thank you again for bringing us all together.
Take care,
Nancy
Hi
Mary,
This was taken last Friday at the office. Olivia is
around 10 lbs. She is doing great! I love her sooooo... much!
Happy holidays and a happy healthy 2005.
Warm regards,

X0x0x0x from OLiviaaaaaa.
Thanks
Mary Helen.
Jasmine has been a wonderful puppy she is friendly to all and loves to
be
around people and loves to play! What a blessing that Pals for Paws was
able to rescue her and her family. She is such a wonderful and
well-loved dog even her new daddy loves to play with her. We want to
thank Pals for Paws again for a wonderful puppy!

Hello
everyone! I just wanted to take a moment and tell you how happy I am
with my new family!!!!! Since I'm permanently blind my Mommy is typing
this letter for me. My family came over 190 miles (one way) to adopt me.
My Mom brought my new brother Cisco with and we get along just fine...
He is a German Shepherd mix and he's about the same age (1 year) and
weight (50 pounds) as myself.
My Mom lives on a second floor condo and she didn't realize that
until we first got home I was afraid of the stairs. There are 15 stairs
with no backs to them. She was able to get me to go up them but I
refused to go down them. For one week she had to sit at the top of the
stairs and drag me on her lap and then go butt down with me sitting on
her lap all the while trying to keep Cisco in line. This was at least
3-4 times a day. Finally Sandy and Cat from Pet Sitters came to our
house to help Mom train me to go down the stairs. After about 5 attempts
I can say that I am now an expert at those stairs!
I also get to go to the Dog Park with my brother Cisco everyday when
Mom gets home from work. Everyone knows Cisco and I by name. They laugh
at my Mom and say we heard you coming five minutes ago. Cisco and I
always start barking blocks before we even get there. I love running and
playing in the dog park and have done so well there. I love it so much
that sometimes when it's time to go home I run away from my Mom. So she
devised a plan to load Cisco up into the car start the car turn on the
headlights and then drive away.......but she only drives around the
parking lot and comes right back to the gate where I'm waiting to go
home then..........
Oh I almost forgot. My Mom and I just started to volunteer to go
visit the local nursing home once a month. I have to say that I did
really really well but I did make a little old lady cry or I should say
my Mom did. My Mom was telling everyone our story and the lady got
really upset that I was blind. My Mom told her not to cry and that I had
a really good life now and that I'm very happy. I was waggin' my tail
also to let her know. By the time we left there she was all smiles.
Everyone that meets me says I'm such a happy boy! My tails is always
going and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but where I am now. Can
you believe that by the second night I learned how to hop up on the bed.
We all sleep together......Mom Cisco and I. My favorite word is
Salami........when I hear that word I jump for joy.........and also get
a few pieces..........
Well, I better go now.........have to go for a walk and then hit the
hay!!!!!! I will send some pics in about a week and thank you thank you
thank you..........
Buddy D.
Mary,
We
adopted Miles almost a month ago and he is doing great. He had no
trouble making himself part of our family even having to adapt to 2 cats
and a baby! When we brought him home he was 13 pounds and at last vet
visit he was 19 pounds 13 oz so he is gaining good weight and has plenty
of rawhides and chew toys. He and Jamie our 16 month old play together
all the time. Thanks so much for what you do!
I have enclosed a few pictures for you to see how he is doing. I will
send more as he grows :)
Thanks!

Hi
Mary. My husband, Aaron, and I just wanted to give you an update on
Malcome (now known as Enzo). Enzo is such a fun puppy and we love
him so much. He is now around 12 weeks old and is growing so fast.
We got his 9 week shots, and he goes for his 12 week set next
Wednesday. If you remember, Enzo was 4 pounds when we got him, and
now we’re guessing he’s between 15-18 pounds. You were right, he is
very smart. He has been completely potty trained for over 2 weeks
(that means it only took him 3-4 weeks to learn)!Enzo also knows the
commands “sit” and “give me paw.” We plan on taking him to puppy
classes at the local Petsmart when he’s around 16 weeks. The only
things that concern us a little is that he is extremely nippy,
especially at our hands and feet and when he’s really excited, but
the vet said that as long as we redirect him consistently, he should
come out of that. Also, we worry about him because he eats every
meal like we are never going to feed him again. We’re guessing
because he had such a rough start. He hardly chews, and if he is
chewing a treat and we come near him, he will try his hardest to
swallow it, like we’re going to take it away from him. Overall, Enzo
is a great dog. We cannot thank you enough for taking care of him to
start and letting us adopt him. Enzo is very much loved by us, as
well as all of our family and friends. Thank You!! Krista & Aaron.
 Hello!
I just wanted to send you a picture I took of Barney last weekend.
He just had his third vet visit and he weighs just under 50 pounds!
He
loves to play in the leaves - it's like he has a whole yard of toys
- he
chases them, jumps in them, and scoots them around! He's having a
blast in
the fall, so we can't wait to see what he does in the snow - he'll
probably
love it! We've had him for almost 9 weeks now and he's fully potty
trained
and we are working on the chewing - that is getting better, but will
hopefully be gone after he loses his baby teeth!
I just wanted to let you know that he's doing great and we love him
to
death!
Thanks for everything that you do!

Mary Helen,
 Hi!
I don't know if you recognize the little squirt in the pictures or
not, but this is our little Molly (formerly Mistinna). She is
growing so much! Molly's Dr. thinks that she will get to be between
30 and 40 lbs! She is currently 14.1 lbs and she is 13-14 weeks old!
Anyway, we can't thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to
adopt Molly. She is such a joy to have around and you can tell that
she just loves it by our house. She is a little spoiled (as you may
be
 able
to tell with the costume) but she is our baby! Our house is littered
with all of her "babies." (We call Molly's toys her babies.) Anyway,
we entered Molly into cutest puppy contest for a festival in our
town. She didn't win, but I still think that she's the cutest! She
made lots of friends while she was there (as she does wherever she
goes). I just wanted to give you an update and let you see some
pictures of her! Molly has to finish up her boosters and then she
will be able to be spayed. Dr. Brummel (Molly's Dr.) said that she
could be spayed around 20 weeks, so we plan to get that done
 as
soon as possible. Please email and let me know that you got the
pictures. If you do not get them, I will try to re-email them to
you. Thank you so much again for Molly and I will continue to send a
few pictures of her every now-and-then.
Sincerely,
T J
Bruno
is doing good, his new name is Jake, he is responding very well to
it. He is eating and drinking fine and loves his doggy treats, he
seems to like his new food better, Pedigree. He loves his chew toys
and sometimes mistakes no-chew toys as chew toys, but nothing big so
far. He loves to play and enjoys his walks. He likes to go outside
when my neighbor is out with his beagle so that they can play. He
got his nails trimmed last night and got a bath today. He is on
Advantage Flea control and I just gave him his heartworm medicine
about a week ago. You can see some pictures of him by clicking his
link on my website

Thanks for the Pal,
B M. W
Chandler says, THANK YOU for all you and Becky have
done!
Hi! Wanted to let you know that Cigi has fit
in perfect to our home. We love her to death, and she is so relaxed and
playful and very spoiled. (as you can see in photo) She goes to work
with me and really gets mad if we don't take her out to dinner with us,
which is very rare, she goes everywhere with us. Thank you so much and
best wishes to you and all who help you find homes for these wonderful
animals! God Bless You! Jim & Deb
Hi,
please click on the
link
below and see Rae's new home!! She was born blind and we rescued her
from being euthanized. A family in Edinburgh Va. came all the way
to Kokomo to adopt her. They already have a blind and deaf dog so she
will have a companion and a fenced in yard to play. I miss her but I
know that she has a wonderful home and will be happy for life!! Thanks
to the Plummer family for giving her such a great home.
