ARE YOU READY TO OWN A PET?

Wonderful! We want our pets to go to the best homes possible, where love and care are abundant. Before you make that commitment to adopt, remember that: A PET IS A COMPANION FOR LIFE! Be sure that the time is right to bring a new friend into the family. If you're expecting a baby, it's probably not a great time to adopt a puppy or high energy dog. If you love cats but your significant-other hates them, it would be unfair to the cat and to your partner to bring one into the family. We prefer you adopt, but we also want to make sure it's a choice you can live with for the rest of your four-legged companion's life.

BRINGING A DOG INTO YOUR FAMILY SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. IT'S NOT THE SAME AS KEEPING A TURTLE OR A GOLDFISH!!! BE PREPARED TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT ATTENTION AND PROPER TRAINING FOR THE LIFE OF THE ANIMAL (up to 16 years for dogs).

If you do not prepare yourself and/or your family for a new dog, it is the animal who ultimately suffers. Statistics show that most dogs are abandoned because of behavior problems.

Please take the time to think things over and ask yourself:

A. do I have the time to train and discipline the dog, show them extra love & affection daily and still is willing to play w/ them nightly? (15-20 hours / week)

B. do I have time to feed them, clean up after them, give them bathes or daily brushings? (7-10 hrs / week)

C. do I have the time to socialize them with the neighbors animals, the neighborhood families and friends and other neighborhood pets? (5-10 hours / day)

D. do I have an extra 30-40 hours each week for a loving, friendly pet?

Take the time to think things over with the same caution you have used when buying a homel

THE DECISIONS YOU MAKE NOW WILL AFFECT YOU FOR A LONG TIME TO COME.
