As a woman walked the beach, she stopped to ask a young girl ahead of her why she was picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea. The woman was told that the stranded starfish would die if left until the morning sun. She questioned the young girl saying, "But the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish, how can your efforts make any difference?" The young girl looked at the starfish in her hand and then threw it safely into the water. "It makes a difference to that one," she said. - Anonymous
